Bonus Wednesday Pictures!! Hooray!!

I got on my email today and was surprised to see some pictures from Jordan!!!  Nothing better than a surprise like that!

 

 

Hola,

I`m just going to send some photos real quick and tell you about our fun adventure on Monday.   Hermano Siggy took us out on a trail in the National Park here in the morning. He works and does lots of tours in the Park, including bike tours, bird watching, and also does a lot of snorkel and fishing tours on a boat. He is a pretty cool guy. But it was a small trail loop that we did. We left at 7:00 in the morning before doing the normal P-day things. We took a taxi to the entrance of the trail, the trail is called Sicaru. Its a Zapotecan word that mean Beautiful, in the Istmo the people say Sicaru Cheetu (though it is different in different pueblos) when someone is leaving. It means que se vaya bien. Hno. Siggy didn't know that, now he does. Anyway, it was honestly like a trip through a jungle, it was pretty cool and very green, the sun was mostly blocked out in the jungle. We had to wade through water because at this time of year the lagoon is starting to fill up and flood the area, I sent some pics of the lagoon and its current level. But it was really cool, Hno. Siggy was showing us all of the plants, lots of birds, and other things, as well as cutting the path open with his machete sometimes. Then we got to a small micro-region where all the plants are small and is more like a desert, then we suddenly arrive to a beautiful beach where nobody goes. There was a little blowhole shooting up from the Island out there, the waves were pretty big, good thing that we weren't planning on swimming anyway, cuz we cant. The random tree I sent is called "El Arbol del Matrimonio", or the tree of Marriage. Its actually a type of cactus, and here in the park is the only place you can find it in Mexico. On the way back from the beach (the trail is a loop so it was a different area) we were wading up a little creek ducking through trees, it was extremely green and beautiful. It would be a scary place to be while running from Lamanites though.

 

Though the park is like a jungle, it technically isn't one, because during other months, the jungle loses its foliage and dies. It turns into a desert. But ya, it was a really fun thing to do on Pday aside from the normal clothes washing and all of that. We may have to check the place out with Hno. Siggy when we come back, hes done tours for return missionaries before he says, though if we come during spring break, the jungle may be a desert, I forgot exactly the months where it is more like a desert. But anyway, talk to you later!

(Just some pictures that I took of the area last week, and then today in the morning we went to eat breakfast with a member, we had quesadillas with quesillo and beans, then we helped cut some wood for the hermana to make tortillas for a few days. So here are some pics of us cutting.)
